How do I view and analyze a Group in my dashboard?

The Groups page lists every group you've captured; each group's detail page breaks it down into Profiles, Posts, and Posting pattern tabs, plus a CSV export.

PostSnag lists every Facebook Group you've captured on your dashboard's Groups page, and breaks each one down further on its own detail page with member, post, and posting-pattern tabs plus a CSV export. Both live under Groups in the left sidebar.

Open the Groups page

  1. Sign in to your dashboard and click Groups in the left sidebar. It carries a live count badge showing how many groups you've captured.

  2. You'll land on a page subtitled "Added automatically when you export from inside a Facebook group," with two tabs: Groups and Profiles by group.

The Groups tab shows a card for every group you've captured: its cover image, or a letter placeholder if it doesn't have one, its name, its member count alongside how many days you've tracked it, an external-link button that opens the real group on Facebook, its description if it has one, how many profiles you've tracked from it, its captured post count, and a small stack of member avatars.

The Profiles by group tab shows the same groups organized differently: a section per group previewing up to 6 tracked profiles at a glance, with a "View all" or "View group" link to see the rest.

If you haven't captured from a group yet, this page shows a prompt instead of an empty grid: "No groups captured yet," with buttons to browse Facebook groups or add PostSnag to Chrome.

Open a group's detail page

  1. From either tab on the Groups page, click into any group's card.

  2. At the top of the detail page you'll find the group's name, its description, a View group on Facebook link that opens the real group in a new tab, and an Export button for downloading its captured posts as a CSV file. It's disabled with a "No posts to export yet" tooltip if the group has none. See How do I export a Facebook Group's posts?

  3. Below that, a stats row shows four numbers: Group members, Tracked profiles, Captured posts, and Total engagement.

  4. Three tabs sit underneath: Profiles, Posts, and Posting pattern.

Profiles tab

Every member profile you've tracked from this group, each card marked with a small "G" badge showing it's from this group. A search box appears once you've tracked more than 12 members, and a "Show all" button appears once you've tracked more than the initial preview of 24. Click any profile to open their full profile detail page.

Posts tab

Every post captured from this group, shown in the order they actually appear in the group's own feed, with a caption noting how many posts are captured and that they're in group feed order.

Posting pattern tab

A Monday-through-Sunday bar chart of when this group's captured posts were published, with the busiest day highlighted. If too few posts have been captured yet, it shows "Not enough data yet" instead of a chart.

Groups inside your overall Analytics too

Once you've captured at least one group post, the main Analytics page, not the group's own page, adds a dedicated Groups section: a table listing your groups by members, tracked profiles, posts, and reactions, showing your top 5 by post count with a "See all" link back to the Groups page. This sits alongside the rest of your Analytics, so a group's numbers show up both on its own detail page and in your account-wide totals. See How do I read a profile's performance in Analytics?.

Getting from a group to a member's own profile

Clicking a profile card, whether on the group's Profiles tab or the Groups page's Profiles by group tab, opens that person's normal profile detail page. From there, use the Sources filter to switch between viewing their posts from this group, their personal posts, or both at once. See Why are group posts kept separate from personal posts? and How do I filter, search, and sort a profile's posts?.

Common questions

Where do I see the Groups I've captured?
Open Groups in your dashboard sidebar. The Groups tab lists every group as a card; Profiles by group shows tracked members organized by group instead.

What can I see on a Group's detail page?
Stats on members, tracked profiles, captured posts, and total engagement, plus tabs for Profiles, Posts, and Posting pattern.

What does the Posting pattern tab show?
A Monday-through-Sunday chart of when this group's captured posts were published, with the peak day highlighted.

How do I get to the real group on Facebook?
Click View group on Facebook on the group's detail page, or the external-link button on its card on the Groups page.

Do captured groups show up anywhere besides the Groups page?
Yes. Once you've captured group posts, your main Analytics page adds a Groups table, and profiles tracked from a group show a group chip on the Profiles page.
