How do I reset or change my password?

Use Forgot password on the login page to reset a lost password, or update it anytime from Settings, Account.

Resetting or changing your PostSnag password takes under a minute: use Forgot password? on the login page if you've lost it, or update it anytime from Settings, Account once you're already signed in.

Reset your password (forgot it)

  1. On the PostSnag login page, click Forgot password?, just below the Password field.

  2. Enter your email address and click Send reset link.

  3. PostSnag confirms with "Check your email" and the message "We sent a password reset link to <your email>. Click the link to choose a new password."

  4. Open the email and click the reset link. It takes you to a "Set a new password" screen, subtitled "Choose a new password for your PostSnag account."

  5. Enter your New password and Confirm new password (at least 8 characters, and the two have to match), then click Update password.

  6. You'll see "Password updated," and PostSnag automatically sends you back to the login page a couple of seconds later.

The whole reset flow, start to finish, happens without needing to already be signed in, which is exactly the point: it's built for the moment you're locked out.

Change your password (already signed in)

  1. Open your account menu, your avatar in the top right of the dashboard, and click Settings.

  2. In the Account card, enter your Current password and your New password.

  3. Click Save changes.

Settings confirms with "Saved!" once your new password takes effect, or shows an error message if something needs fixing. Use this same path anytime you want to update your password, not just after a reset; it's the same Account card where you'd also update your name or email. If you signed up with Google

If you created your PostSnag account with Continue with Google, you don't have a separate PostSnag password to reset or change; there's no Current password and New password pair to fill in for that kind of account. Manage your password through your Google account instead, using whatever recovery options Google offers. Signing in to PostSnag still works the same way either way, through Continue with Google.

What a strong PostSnag password looks like

PostSnag's own requirement is simple: at least 8 characters, matched exactly between the New password and Confirm new password fields (or the Password field at signup). Beyond that minimum, the usual password advice still applies: use something you don't reuse on other sites, and consider a password manager, especially since your PostSnag account holds your captured research and, if you're on a paid plan, is linked to billing.

Why the reset link might not arrive

A reset email can take a minute or two, and it occasionally lands in spam or a promotions folder instead of your inbox. Make sure you're entering the exact email address your PostSnag account uses; check How do I update my name, email, and profile? if you're not sure which one that is, and check spam before assuming it didn't send. If it still hasn't shown up, email support@postsnag.com and support can help directly.

Common questions

What if I signed up with Google? Can I still set a PostSnag password?
No, Google sign-in accounts don't use a PostSnag password at all. Manage your password with Google, and keep signing in with Continue with Google.

I didn't get the password reset email. What now?
Check your spam folder first, and confirm you used the exact email your account is registered under. If it still doesn't arrive, email support@postsnag.com.

Do I need my current password to change it in Settings?
Yes, the Account card asks for your current password along with the new one; the Forgot password flow, by contrast, doesn't need your old password at all.

Is there a minimum password length?
Yes, a new password needs to be at least 8 characters, whether you're resetting or changing it.

Does changing my password sign me out on other devices?
This isn't stated anywhere in the product itself, so don't assume either way. If you're worried a device stayed signed in that shouldn't have, changing your password is still the right first step.
