Creating a PostSnag account means signing up with your name, email, and a password, or choosing Continue with Google, from the dashboard's signup page or from inside the extension panel, and it takes under a minute either way.
You don't need an account to install the Chrome extension itself, but you do need one before PostSnag can save anything to a dashboard or unlock a paid plan. Every new account starts on the Free plan automatically, so there's nothing extra to configure before you capture your first profile.
What you need before you start
A Chrome-based browser. Install PostSnag first if you haven't; see How do I install PostSnag from the Chrome Web Store?.
An email address, unless you're using Continue with Google, in which case your Google account covers it.
No credit card. The Free plan needs nothing to start.
To be 18 or older. See Age requirement below.
How to sign up from the dashboard
Go to the PostSnag dashboard's signup page, titled "Get Started Now," subtitled "Create your account to start capturing Facebook posts."
Choose Sign up with Google to continue with your Google account and skip the password step entirely, or fill in your Name, Email address, and Password.
Check the box for "I agree to the Terms & Privacy."
Click Create Account.

How to sign up from the extension
Open any Facebook page with PostSnag installed and click the PostSnag icon, or open the panel directly.
On the sign-in screen, click Sign Up To Export, the label the panel uses instead of a plain sign-up button when you're not yet signed in.
This opens the dashboard's signup page in a new tab. Finish creating your account there using the steps above.
Switch back to your Facebook tab. The extension panel picks up your new sign-in automatically, usually within a moment, with no need to sign in a second time.
What happens right after you sign up
You land signed in, and a short guided tour of the dashboard starts automatically the first time: a quick walk through your Profiles library, the Discovery feed, Analytics, and the Chrome extension card in the sidebar, ending with a reminder to open Facebook and scroll your first profile. Click Skip if you'd rather explore on your own, or restart it later from the Getting started checklist's "Take a tour of the dashboard" button.
One account, both surfaces
PostSnag only has one kind of account, and it behaves identically whether you signed up from the dashboard or the extension. There's no separate "extension account" and "dashboard account" to keep track of, and no step that links them together after the fact; signing up anywhere signs you in everywhere. This holds true no matter which device or browser you're signed in from, since your account lives on PostSnag's own servers rather than in any single browser. See How do I sign in to PostSnag (extension and dashboard)? for how that plays out day to day.
Age requirement
PostSnag is built for marketers, agencies, and creators doing research work, not for kids. You must be 18 or older to create a PostSnag account, and the product isn't directed at anyone under that age.
Common questions
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No. Creating an account and using the Free plan never asks for a card.
Can I sign up with Google instead of a password?
Yes. Choose Continue with Google (labeled "Sign up with Google" on the dashboard's signup page) and you won't set a PostSnag password at all; you'll always sign back in with Google afterward.
I already have an account. Do I need to sign up again to use the extension?
No. Sign in with your existing account instead of creating a new one. See How do I sign in to PostSnag (extension and dashboard)?
What if the email I want is already registered?
Sign in instead of signing up again. If you don't remember the password, use Forgot password? on the login page.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes, you must be 18 or older to use PostSnag.
