What notification settings does PostSnag have?

PostSnag notifies you in-app and by email when your export has finished and is ready to download, so you don't have to sit and watch the tab while it works. That's the one notification PostSnag actively sends you today.

Settings > Notifications in your dashboard also lists a set of toggles, described below exactly as they appear on screen.

Export-ready notifications

The Export menu has three options: Download data for AI (a Markdown file and a CSV file together), Download media for AI (a .zip of the images and videos), and Download Data & Media for AI (a .zip with both). Download media for AI and Download Data & Media for AI always run as a background job, even for a single post, instead of making you wait on the page. Download data for AI builds in your browser and downloads right away. You're free to keep working, close the tab, or move to another part of the dashboard while a background job finishes.

Once the export is ready, PostSnag lets you know two ways:

• In-app, with a notification you'll see in the bell icon in the top bar the next time you're in the dashboard.

• By email, sent to the address on your account, so you'll know even if you've logged out.

Download data for AI finishes fast enough that you don't need a notification; the download starts right away. The Notifications section in Settings

Open Settings > Notifications to see it. It lists five toggles: New posts from tracked profiles, Group activity, Bookmark milestones, Weekly digest, and Product news, each with a short line describing what it's for. That's what's on the screen; this article doesn't promise what flipping one does, since that isn't something PostSnag currently confirms.

The export-ready notification above works independently of this section: it's tied to a background export job finishing, not to anything in Settings.

Where to manage notifications

The Notifications section in Settings is the only notification screen in the product. There's no separate notification screen in the Chrome extension; the extension panel shows its own on-screen notices about your remaining capture allowance and capture status while you're actively using it, which is a different thing from the account-level notifications covered here.

Common questions

Do I get an email every time I export something?

No. Download data for AI finishes while you're still on the page. The in-app and email notifications are for Download media for AI and Download Data & Media for AI, which always run in the background, even for a single post.

Do the toggles in Settings > Notifications turn things off?

PostSnag doesn't currently confirm what changing a toggle does. The one notification PostSnag is confirmed to send is the export-ready one above, and it isn't controlled by these toggles.

Why am I not seeing a notification for something I expected?

If it's about an export, check both the bell icon in the dashboard and your email inbox. If you still can't find it, the export itself should still be available from wherever you started it, so you can export again. For anything else, contact support@postsnag.com.
