PostSnag is Facebook-only today. It does not capture posts from Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, or any other platform, even when an account is linked to a Facebook Page you're viewing.

The extension only activates on facebook.com, and the entire dashboard, from post types to engagement fields to how Groups are handled, is built specifically around how Facebook works.

What "Facebook-only" means in practice

  • The panel only appears on facebook.com. Open Instagram, TikTok, or any other site, and there's nothing for PostSnag to do there; the extension simply doesn't activate.

  • The dashboard is structured entirely around Facebook. Profiles, Pages, Groups, post types (text, photo, video, reel, album, link), and reaction types all map to how Facebook itself works, not a generic social media format.

  • Clicking the PostSnag toolbar icon on a non-Facebook tab opens a small popup instead of the panel, since there's no Facebook page to show a panel on. From that popup you can sign in, check your account, or open your dashboard, but not capture anything. See Why does the PostSnag icon open a small popup instead of the panel?.

Why PostSnag is Facebook-only

Facebook posts, profiles, Pages, and groups all work differently from how Instagram or TikTok structure content: different post types, different reaction sets (Facebook's like, love, haha, wow, sad, and angry don't exist the same way elsewhere), and different rules for how a group's posts relate to a member's personal profile. Building deep, accurate support for that one platform's structure produces a more complete and more reliable tool than spreading the same effort thin across several platforms with different formats at once. That focus is deliberate, not a limitation PostSnag is working around.

What if my Facebook Page is linked to an Instagram account?

PostSnag still only reads Facebook itself. If a Page cross-posts to a linked Instagram account, or a business manages both from the same place, PostSnag doesn't reach into the Instagram side at all. It captures only what's posted and visible on the Facebook Page or profile you're actually scrolling.

Will PostSnag ever expand beyond Facebook?

There's nothing to announce today. PostSnag is focused on Facebook, and any future platform support would be a genuinely new capability, not something already quietly working behind the scenes. If you'd like to see PostSnag support another platform, the honest current answer is that it isn't there yet.

What to do if you need multi-platform research

PostSnag won't help you compare a Facebook profile against an Instagram or TikTok account side by side today. If Facebook is where the profiles, Pages, or groups you actually care about live, PostSnag captures everything public on them; if your research spans several platforms, you'll need a separate tool for the non-Facebook parts of that work, and you'll need to combine the two data sets yourself, since PostSnag exports are Facebook-only.

Does running PostSnag conflict with other extensions or tools?

No. Because PostSnag only activates on facebook.com and only reads what's already loading in your own session, it doesn't interfere with a separate tool you might use for Instagram, TikTok, or anywhere else. You can run PostSnag for your Facebook research and a different tool for other platforms side by side without either one affecting the other.

Common questions

Does PostSnag capture Instagram posts made through a linked Facebook account?
No. PostSnag only captures public Facebook posts on profiles, Pages, and groups, regardless of what other accounts might be linked or cross-posting.

Is there a separate version of PostSnag for Instagram or TikTok?
No. PostSnag is a single, Facebook-only product. There's no separate Instagram or TikTok edition.

What happens if I click the PostSnag icon while I'm not on Facebook?
A small popup opens instead of the panel, with sign-in and an Open Dashboard button. It won't capture anything, since there's no Facebook page open to read.

Can I still view my captured Facebook data while browsing other sites?
Yes. Your dashboard at app.postsnag.com works in any browser tab, on Facebook or off it. Only new capturing requires an active Facebook tab.

Can I request platform support for somewhere else?
There's no in-product feature request form today. Email support@postsnag.com if there's a platform you'd like to see supported.
