PostSnag is a Chrome extension and dashboard that captures the public posts on any Facebook profile, Page, or group as you scroll, then organizes them into a dashboard you can search, sort, filter, and export. Instead of scrolling Facebook and guessing what content is working, you get the real numbers behind every post in one place.

You browse Facebook exactly as you normally would, signed into your own account. As you scroll a profile, PostSnag reads the public posts already loading on your screen and collects the details that matter: the post type, how many reactions, comments, and shares it got, when it was posted, the caption, and the media. One click sends everything to your dashboard, where you can rank a profile's posts by engagement, spot the outliers, save the best ones, and export the whole set for deeper analysis.

The two parts of PostSnag

The Chrome extension is the capture engine. It adds a PostSnag panel to Facebook that appears when you open a profile, Page, or group. As you scroll, the panel shows a live count of what it has collected, a quick breakdown of engagement and post types, and an Export To Dashboard button. Nothing is sent anywhere until you click that button. Capturing while you scroll simply builds the data up locally in your browser.

The dashboard at app.postsnag.com is where your captured posts live. It is organized into a few main areas:

  • Profiles: every profile, Page, or creator you have captured, each opening to a full view of its posts.

  • Discovery: a community feed of standout, high-performing posts across the profiles PostSnag users track.

  • Bookmarks: individual posts and profiles you have saved.

  • Folders: named collections you group captured posts into.

  • Analytics: the numbers across everything you have captured, including top posts, best-performing post types, and the days that get the most engagement.

What PostSnag captures from every post

For each public post you scroll past, PostSnag collects:

  • Post type: text, photo, video, reel, album, or link

  • Reactions, including the breakdown of like, love, haha, wow, sad, and angry

  • Comments and shares

  • Video views, when a post is a video or reel

  • The exact date and time it was posted

  • The caption text

  • The media, saved as image thumbnails (PostSnag saves a video's cover image, not the video file itself)

  • The author's public name and profile link, and the original post URL

PostSnag only ever reads public posts, the same ones anyone visiting that profile could see. It never captures private or friends-only posts, Messenger or direct messages, Stories, or live video.

What makes PostSnag different

  • It works on profiles you don't own. Facebook only gives analytics for Pages and profiles you manage. PostSnag lets you see post-level performance for any public profile, Page, or group.

  • It runs in your own browser, read-only. PostSnag uses your own logged-in Facebook session and only reads what is already on your screen. There are no proxies, no fake accounts, and no automation, and it never posts, likes, comments, messages, or follows anyone for you.

  • It covers profiles, Pages, and Groups. Most tools stop at one surface. PostSnag captures personal profiles, business Pages, creator accounts, and members' posts inside Facebook Groups.

  • It focuses on organic content. These are the real posts creators publish, not just paid ads.

  • Its exports are built for AI. You can export any profile to Markdown or CSV and paste it straight into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini to find the patterns for you.

  • It gets richer as people use it. Once a profile's public posts are captured, they are saved and can surface in the shared Discovery feed, so popular profiles are often already there before you look.

Who PostSnag is for

  • Marketers, agencies, and brand strategists auditing competitor or client profiles. Capture a profile, sort by engagement, and hand over a clear picture in minutes instead of scrolling months of posts by hand.

  • Content creators who want to stop guessing. Study what is working in your niche across several profiles and build a swipe file of proven posts.

  • AI-forward users who want clean, structured Facebook data to feed into AI tools for content strategy and competitive research.

  • Facebook Group admins and community managers looking at what content resonates inside a community and who the top contributors are.

What PostSnag does not do

PostSnag is a research tool, not an automation tool. It does not manage your Facebook account, post or schedule content, message people, or interact with profiles in any way. It is also not affiliated with Facebook, and it never asks for your Facebook password. You stay logged into your own Facebook account normally while PostSnag reads the public posts on your screen.

Common questions

Is PostSnag free?
Yes, there is a Free plan at $0 with no card required. It includes 3 profile scans a week and up to 30 posts captured per profile. Pro and Lifetime remove those caps. See What do PostSnag's plans include, and what are the limits?.

Do I need a Facebook account?
Yes. PostSnag reads posts through your own logged-in Facebook session, so you need to be signed into Facebook as usual. Your PostSnag account is separate and never touches your Facebook password.

Is this the same as CrowdTangle?
It solves a similar problem now that CrowdTangle is gone. See Is PostSnag a CrowdTangle alternative?
