How do I sign in to PostSnag (extension and dashboard)?
Sign in to PostSnag with email and password or Google, from the dashboard or the extension. Each surface has its own sign-in screen and needs its own sign-in.

Signing in to PostSnag takes your email and password, or Google, from either the dashboard's login page or the extension, and both check the same account. You still sign in separately on each surface, though, since the dashboard website and the extension don't share a sign-in session automatically.
Facebook login is not supported
A Log in with Facebook button sits right next to Log in with Google on the dashboard's login screen, but it's disabled: it's dimmed and doesn't respond to clicks. Don't rely on it. PostSnag only supports email and password, or Google, and it never asks for your Facebook password through any sign-in method.
Sign in from the dashboard
Go to the PostSnag login page, titled "Welcome Back," subtitled "Enter your credentials to access your account."
Click Log in with Google, or enter your Email address and Password (there's an eye icon to show or hide what you've typed).
Click Login.
If you forgot your password, click Forgot password? on this same page instead of guessing at it. See How do I reset or change my password?
Sign in from the extension
The extension has two different sign-in screens, depending on how you reach it, and each has its own layout:
The panel, the main capturing view you open on a Facebook page (from the toolbar icon while signed in, or from the small PostSnag button that floats on the page), shows a full "Welcome Back to PostSnag" screen when you're signed out, with email and password fields and a Sign in with Google button.
The small popup, which opens when you click the toolbar icon while signed out or while you're off Facebook, has its own compact sign-in form: email and password fields and a Continue with Google button.
Either one signs you into the same account. Whichever you land on:
Enter your email and password, or click the Google button on that screen.
The panel briefly shows "Setting things up..." ("PostSnag is preparing your library. This usually takes a few seconds.") before your account loads.
Once you're signed in, open a facebook.com tab and click the icon again to get the full panel instead of the popup. See Why does the PostSnag icon open a small popup instead of the panel? for the full breakdown of when each one shows up.
One account, two sign-ins
PostSnag only has one kind of account: the same email and password, or the same Google account, works on both the dashboard and the extension. But signing in on one doesn't automatically sign you in on the other. The dashboard is a website in a browser tab; the extension keeps its own separate sign-in inside the browser itself. Sign in once on the dashboard and once on the extension, both times with the same credentials, and you'll see the same captured data on both. That same account is also what you sign in with if you connect Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, or Perplexity through PostSnag MCP. PostSnag MCP is included with Pro and Lifetime.
Within the extension itself, though, the popup and the panel do share one sign-in: if you sign in from the popup, the panel picks it up automatically the next time you open it on Facebook, and the other way around, since both read from the same place inside the extension.
Signing in on a new browser profile or a new computer
Because your PostSnag account isn't tied to a browser install, you can sign in with the same email and password, or the same Google account, on a second Chrome profile, a work laptop, or after reinstalling Chrome entirely. There's nothing to transfer and no account key to copy over; sign in, and your dashboard, Bookmarks, and Folders show up exactly as they were. See Can I use PostSnag on multiple devices or with my team? for more on how that works day to day.
Staying signed in
Your session refreshes itself automatically in the background, so you generally don't have to sign in over and over. Occasionally, in situations like going a long time without opening PostSnag, clearing your browser's site data, or a network hiccup at the exact moment a refresh was due, that automatic refresh can fail, which signs you out rather than leaving the extension in a broken state. If that happens, sign back in; nothing you've already captured or exported is affected. See Why was I signed out unexpectedly? for more.
Common questions
Can I sign in with Facebook?
No. The Facebook sign-in option is visible but disabled everywhere in PostSnag. Use email and password, or Google.
If I sign in on the dashboard, do I also need to sign in on the extension?
Yes. They're separate sign-ins, so use the same email and password, or the same Google account, on each one.
What if I forgot my password?
Click Forgot password? on the login page. See How do I reset or change my password?
I don't have an account yet. What do I do?
Create one first. See How do I create a PostSnag account?
Why did clicking the PostSnag icon open a small popup instead of the panel?
That happens when you're signed out, or when you're not on a facebook.com tab. Sign in, open a Facebook page, and click the icon again.
