How do I create a PostSnag account?

Create a PostSnag account with your name, email, and password, or Sign up with Google. Email signups confirm their address before the dashboard opens.

Creating a PostSnag account means signing up with your name, email, and a password, or choosing Sign up with Google, from the dashboard's signup page or from inside the extension, and it takes under a minute either way.

You don't need an account to install the Chrome extension itself, but you do need one before PostSnag can save anything to a dashboard or unlock a paid plan. Every new account starts on the Free plan automatically, so there's nothing extra to configure before you capture your first profile.

What you need before you start

  • A Chrome-based browser. Install PostSnag first if you haven't; see How do I install PostSnag from the Chrome Web Store?.

  • An email address, unless you're using Sign up with Google, in which case your Google account covers it.

  • No credit card. The Free plan needs nothing to start.

  • To be 18 or older. See Age requirement below.

How to sign up from the dashboard

  • Go to the PostSnag dashboard's signup page, titled "Get Started Now," subtitled "Create your account to start capturing Facebook posts."

  • Choose Sign up with Google to continue with your Google account and skip the password step entirely, or fill in your Name, Email address, and Password.

  • Check the box for "I agree to the Terms & Privacy."

  • Click Create Account.

How to sign up from the extension

  • Open any Facebook page with PostSnag installed and click the PostSnag icon, or open the panel directly.

  • On the sign-in screen, click Sign up here (in the toolbar popup it reads Sign up).

  • This opens the dashboard's signup page in a new tab. Finish creating your account there using the steps above.

  • Switch back to your Facebook tab and sign in to the extension with the same email and password, or the same Google account. Creating your account on the dashboard doesn't automatically sign the extension in; each surface checks its own sign-in, so you sign in once on the dashboard and once on the extension, both times with the same credentials.

Confirm your email before the dashboard opens

If you signed up with your email and a password, PostSnag needs you to confirm that address before it lets you into the dashboard. After you click Create Account, you land on a blocking "Confirm your email" screen instead of your library, with a message telling you where the confirmation link was sent. You can't get past this screen until you click the link in that email.

  • Click the confirmation link in the email PostSnag just sent you. Links stay valid for 24 hours.

  • Didn't get it? Click Resend email on the same screen. There's a short cooldown between resends.

  • Typed your email wrong? Click Change email address on the same screen, enter the correct one, and PostSnag sends a fresh confirmation link to it.

  • Link expired or already used? PostSnag tells you so and offers a fresh Resend confirmation email button.

Signing up with Sign up with Google skips this screen entirely, since Google has already confirmed that address for you.

What happens right after you confirm

Once you confirm your email (or finish a Google signup), PostSnag sends a brand-new, free account on to postsnag.com's pricing page to pick a plan, rather than dropping you straight into an empty dashboard. Choosing Free on that page, or simply leaving it, still gets you into the dashboard on the Free plan; nothing forces a purchase. From there, a short guided tour of the dashboard starts automatically the first time: a quick walk through your Profiles library, the Discovery feed, Analytics, and the Chrome extension card in the sidebar, ending with a reminder to open Facebook and scroll your first profile. Click Skip if you'd rather explore on your own, or restart it later from the Getting started checklist's "Take a tour of the dashboard" button.

One account, both surfaces

PostSnag only has one kind of account, and it behaves identically whether you signed up from the dashboard or the extension. There's no separate "extension account" and "dashboard account" to keep track of, and no step that links them together after the fact; the same email and password, or the same Google account, sign you in on both. This holds true no matter which device or browser you're signed in from, since your account lives on PostSnag's own servers rather than in any single browser. Each surface still needs its own sign-in, though: creating or confirming your account on the dashboard doesn't automatically log you into the extension, or the other way around. See How do I sign in to PostSnag (extension and dashboard)? for how that plays out day to day.

Age requirement

PostSnag is built for marketers, agencies, and creators doing research work, not for kids. You must be 18 or older to create a PostSnag account, and the product isn't directed at anyone under that age.

Common questions

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No. Creating an account and using the Free plan never asks for a card. On the Free plan you get 3 profile scans and 2 group scans in any rolling 7-day window, and each scan previews the first 30 posts in your dashboard.

Can I sign up with Google instead of a password?

Yes. Choose Sign up with Google and you won't set a PostSnag password at all; you'll always sign back in with Log in with Google afterward.

Do I have to confirm my email before I can use PostSnag?

If you signed up with a password, yes. You'll see a "Confirm your email" screen until you click the link PostSnag sends you. Signing up with Google skips this, since Google already confirmed your email.

I already have an account. Do I need to sign up again to use the extension?

No. Sign in with your existing account instead of creating a new one. See How do I sign in to PostSnag (extension and dashboard)?

What if the email I want is already registered?

Sign in instead of signing up again. If you don't remember the password, use Forgot password? on the login page.

Is there an age requirement?

Yes, you must be 18 or older to use PostSnag.
