Why am I only seeing a preview of a profile's posts? (Free plan)

PostSnag's Free plan shows two different things depending on how a profile was scanned, and both are expected Free-plan behavior, not something that went wrong with your capture. A profile scanned inside your weekly allowance previews its first 30 posts clearly, with the rest blurred behind an upgrade wall. A profile scanned after you'd already used that week's allowance is saved in full but shows as fully locked, with none of its posts visible until you upgrade.

Nothing about either profile is missing from PostSnag. Every post you scanned did sync to your dashboard; the plan limit only controls what you can see there, not what PostSnag captured.

Why this happens

On the Free plan you get 3 profile scans and 2 group scans in any rolling 7-day window, and each scan previews the first 30 posts in your dashboard. That's one of two separate things this article covers:

• A 30-post preview, for a profile scanned inside your weekly allowance. The first 30 posts show clearly; the rest of that profile's posts sit right there, blurred, with an upgrade prompt over them. Nothing is deleted or left uncaptured; upgrading is what removes the blur.

• A full lock, for a profile scanned beyond your weekly allowance. If you'd already used your 3 profile scans for the week, PostSnag still captures and saves that profile, but none of its posts are visible; the dashboard shows a locked section reading "All posts are locked" with an upgrade prompt in place of any preview at all. This is a stricter version of the same limit, not a different problem.

Since PostSnag captures posts in the order they load, and Facebook typically shows a profile's newest posts first as you scroll down from the top, the 30 posts shown clearly on a within-allowance scan are generally the most recent 30 on that profile, not a random sample, as long as you scanned from the top down in the normal way.

Whether a profile you're looking at is one or the other comes down entirely to when you scanned it relative to your weekly allowance, not to anything about the profile itself or how well the capture went.

What to do

1. Look for the blurred posts, or the "All posts are locked" section, and the upgrade prompt in your dashboard. That confirms one of the two plan limits applied, rather than something going wrong with the scan.

2. Know that nothing is lost either way. Every post from that scan is already in your dashboard, whether it's blurred past 30 or fully locked; it just isn't visible yet.

3. Upgrade to Pro or Lifetime using the upgrade prompt over the locked or blurred posts, or by opening Settings in your dashboard and going to Plans & pricing.

4. Open that same profile again. PostSnag decides what to show by your plan every time the page loads, so the blur or lock should be gone right away, showing the profile's full history with no rescan needed.

5. Rescan the profile afterward only if you also want to catch anything newer than your original scan.

How to avoid it

The weekly allowance is a Free-plan limit, not something you can work around while staying on Free. If you know ahead of time that a profile has a long posting history you'll need in full, for example for a competitor audit going back months, it's worth upgrading before you scan it, so the whole history is visible right away instead of sitting blurred or locked until you upgrade later. If you're staying on Free for now, keep a mental note of which profiles hit a limit; that way, if you upgrade later, you know exactly which ones to revisit.

Common questions

Do I lose the posts beyond 30, or all of a locked profile's posts, if I stay on the Free plan?

No. They're already in your dashboard either way. They're just blurred or fully hidden behind an upgrade prompt until you're on a plan that shows them.

Does the 30-post preview apply per profile or across my whole account?

Per profile, per scan. Every profile you scan within your weekly allowance gets its own 30-post preview, separate from the 3-profile-scan allowance itself.

Why does one profile show a blur past 30 and another show fully locked with nothing visible?

It depends on when you scanned it. A profile scanned inside your weekly allowance gets the 30-post preview. A profile scanned after you'd already used that week's allowance is saved but shows nothing until you upgrade.

Does the same idea apply to Facebook Groups too?

Yes, the same two-tier limit applies to a scanned group: within your weekly group allowance it previews, beyond it the group is fully locked. This article is specifically about an individual profile.
