How do I install PostSnag from the Chrome Web Store?

Installing PostSnag takes less than a minute and works on any Chromium-based browser. Once it is added and pinned, the PostSnag panel appears automatically the next time you open a Facebook profile, Page, or group.

Installation steps

1. Open the PostSnag listing on the Chrome Web Store: chromewebstore.google.com/detail/postsnag/mgaicfnchelmoancalnebajninjeiphl. You can also search "PostSnag" in the Chrome Web Store to find it.

2. Click Add to Chrome on the listing page.

3. A confirmation popup appears listing the permissions PostSnag uses. Click Add extension to continue. If you want to know what each permission is for before you accept, see "Why does PostSnag ask for the permissions it does?"

4. Wait a few seconds while your browser downloads and installs PostSnag. You will see a short confirmation when it finishes.

5. Pin PostSnag to your toolbar. Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon at the top right of your browser, find PostSnag in the list, and click the pin icon next to it. Pinning keeps the PostSnag icon visible so you can open the panel, sign in, or reach your dashboard with a single click.

6. Open any Facebook profile, Page, or group to confirm the PostSnag panel is available. On a facebook.com tab while you are signed in, clicking the PostSnag toolbar icon opens the on-page panel.

Sign in to finish setup

The extension uses the same account as your PostSnag dashboard. Open the panel and sign in with your email and password, or with Continue with Google. If you do not have an account yet, the sign-in screen links to sign up, and creating an account is free. Signing in on the extension also signs you in on the dashboard, and signing in on the dashboard signs you in on the extension.

You keep browsing Facebook signed into your own Facebook account as usual. PostSnag never asks for your Facebook password and never logs into Facebook for you.

Supported browsers

PostSnag installs from the Chrome Web Store and runs on any Chromium-based browser, including:

• Google Chrome

• Microsoft Edge

• Brave

• Arc

• Opera

• Vivaldi

Not currently supported: Safari and Firefox, which do not install Chrome Web Store extensions the same way. You can still view and work with everything you have already captured in any browser at app.postsnag.com; capturing new posts requires one of the Chromium browsers above.

After installing, do this next

• Open a Facebook profile and scroll. Watch the panel's Collected count climb as posts load, then click Export To Dashboard to send them up. See "How do I capture posts from a Facebook profile?"

• Test it on a profile you know well so you can see how the captured numbers line up with what you expect.

• Open your dashboard at app.postsnag.com once you have exported your first profile, and take the quick guided tour.

If the panel does not appear

If PostSnag is installed but you do not see the panel, make sure you are on a facebook.com profile, Page, or group tab and signed into both Facebook and PostSnag, then click the PostSnag toolbar icon. Prefer to install manually?

Common questions

Is PostSnag free to install?
Yes. Installing PostSnag and creating an account cost nothing. The Free plan includes 3 profile scans a week with up to 30 posts saved per profile, and Pro or Lifetime remove those caps.

Do I need an account before I install?
No. You can add PostSnag to your browser first, then sign in, or sign up for free, inside the panel before your first capture.

Does anything open automatically after installing?
No. Nothing opens on its own. Pin PostSnag, open any Facebook profile, and click the toolbar icon to open the panel.

Which browsers can I install PostSnag on?
Any Chromium-based browser: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, or Vivaldi. Safari and Firefox are not supported yet.
