Why does a profile's name or picture look wrong?
PostSnag reads a profile's name and picture from the page as it captures, so a loading page or a recent photo change can briefly show the wrong one.

PostSnag reads a profile's name and picture from what's actually rendered on the page at the moment it captures, so if that page is still loading, if you're viewing someone's profile from inside a group, or if their photo changed recently, the panel can briefly show outdated, placeholder, or mismatched details until the correct version loads and saves. This resolves itself once PostSnag gets a clean read of the current page, usually within a rescan or two.
Why this happens
The page hasn't finished loading yet. Right after navigating to a profile, especially by clicking through quickly from another page, the name or photo PostSnag reads first can be a placeholder or a leftover from the previous page, before Facebook has finished rendering the real one.
You're viewing the profile from inside a group. When you open a member's profile from within a Facebook group, PostSnag treats that as a full profile capture and tags the posts to that group, but the name and picture context can take a moment longer to settle, since PostSnag is resolving both the group's own context and that person's personal profile details at the same time.
The profile's photo changed recently. Facebook itself can take a moment to serve the newest picture consistently across a session, so a very recent photo change can show as the older picture briefly, independent of anything PostSnag does.
The profile uses a numeric web address. Some profiles are only reachable at a "profile.php?id=..." style link rather than a username. Until PostSnag resolves the actual display name for one of these, the panel's "Scanning Profile" line can show a placeholder reading "Profile" followed by that ID number, instead of the person's real name. This looks like a wrong name, but it's a normal, temporary stand-in that clears up once the name loads and you capture or rescan.
What to do
Let the profile page fully load before you start scrolling, especially right after navigating from another profile.
Refresh the page if you arrived quickly by clicking through from somewhere else, like a search result or a shared link.
Rescan and export again once the page has settled and the correct name and picture are visible.
If you're viewing the profile from inside a group, open that person's profile directly at least once, outside the group. This helps PostSnag refresh their personal details independent of the group context.
If a numeric-address profile still shows "Profile" plus a number instead of a name after a rescan, give the page a little longer to load; Facebook itself needs to resolve that name before PostSnag can read it.
How to avoid it
Give a profile page a moment to fully render, name, cover photo, and first post all visible, before you start scrolling, rather than scrolling the instant the page appears. When you're working inside a group, get in the habit of opening each member's own profile directly at least once, which keeps their personal name and picture fresh outside the group view. If you know a profile's photo changed recently, a simple refresh right before you scan gives Facebook a chance to catch up first.

Common questions
Will the correct name and picture eventually show up on their own?
Usually yes, once the page finishes loading and you rescan. If not, exporting again after a fresh page load resolves it.
Why does this happen more often with group members?
Viewing someone's profile from inside a group adds an extra layer of context PostSnag has to sort out: which posts belong to the group and which belong to their personal profile. Opening their profile directly once helps it settle faster.
Does a wrong name or picture affect which posts get captured?
No. Captured posts are still tied to the correct profile record. This affects only how the name and picture display, and it corrects itself on a fresh capture.
Why does the panel show "Profile" and a number instead of a name?
That happens on profiles that use a numeric web address instead of a username. It's a temporary placeholder while PostSnag resolves the real display name, not a sign the profile was misread.
What if the picture is still wrong after I rescan?
Refresh the Facebook tab fully, then rescan once more. If the profile's photo changed very recently, giving Facebook itself a little more time to catch up can also help.
