Recent scans: what is the difference between remove and delete?

PostSnag's Recent scans list gives every row two different actions when you hover it: one that only removes it from that shortcut list, and one that permanently deletes it, along with everything captured with it. Mixing these up is the easiest way to lose data you meant to keep, so it's worth knowing exactly what each one does before you click.

What Recent scans is

Recent scans is a short list in the left sidebar, below the main navigation, showing both the profiles and the groups you've scanned recently. It's a shortcut, separate from the full Profiles page and the Groups hub, meant to get you back to something you're actively working on faster than searching for it. Every profile or group in Recent scans is still sitting in its full library too; this list just shows a faster-to-reach subset of the same data.

Remove from recents

Hovering a row surfaces a control that only clears that row from the Recent scans list. Nothing about the underlying profile or group changes: it stays exactly where it is, with everything captured from it, in the full Profiles page or Groups hub. This choice only affects what you personally see in that shortcut list.

Use remove when a row is just cluttering your shortcut list and you want it out of the way, not gone.

Delete

Hovering a row also surfaces a delete control. This starts the real delete flow, with a confirmation step before anything is actually removed. What happens next depends on what kind of row it is:

• Deleting a profile removes that profile and every post you captured from it. It's gone from your account for good, including from Bookmarks or Folders it was saved to.
• Deleting a group removes that group and the posts captured inside it, but it does not remove the profiles you pulled from that group. The creators you're still tracking stay in your Profiles page with the rest of what you've captured from them; only the group and its own posts are cleared.

This is the same delete action available from other places, not a separate or lesser version of it. For a profile, you'll find it on the profile's own page and on its card in the Profiles page. For a group, you'll find it on the group's own page and on its card in the Groups hub. Every path leads to the same confirmation and the same permanent result.

How to tell them apart before you click

Hovering any row in Recent scans reveals both controls side by side. The removal action only touches that shortcut list, so it's low-risk to click. The delete action is the one to slow down for: it's permanent, and for a profile it takes every post captured from that profile with it.

Common questions

If I remove a profile or group from Recent scans, can I still find it?

Yes. It's still in the full Profiles page or Groups hub with everything captured from it. Removing only affects the Recent scans shortcut list.

Can I undo a delete?

No. Once you confirm, the profile or group and its captured posts are gone for good. There's no recovery window.

Does deleting a group also delete the profiles I pulled from it?

No. Deleting a group removes the group and its own posts, but the creators you captured from it stay in your Profiles page along with anything else you've captured from them.

Does removing something from Recent scans affect my scan totals?

No. Removing is a list preference. Your profile scan total and group scan allowance aren't affected either way.

Where else can I delete a profile or group from?
