What is PostSnag MCP, and what can I ask my AI?

PostSnag MCP connects Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, and Perplexity to your captured library, so you ask questions instead of exporting and pasting.

PostSnag MCP connects Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, or Perplexity to the profiles, posts, and groups you've already captured, so you ask a question in the chat instead of exporting a file and pasting it in.

It's included with Pro and Lifetime, connects with one link, and only ever reads what's already sitting in your library.

What PostSnag MCP is

Once you connect it, your AI chat can read your PostSnag library the same way you can in the dashboard: the profiles, posts, groups, folders, and bookmarks you've captured. You ask in plain language, and it answers from what's actually there. No exporting a file first, no pasting anything into the chat.

The connector link is the same for every platform: https://api.postsnag.com/mcp

It's read-only. PostSnag MCP can look at what's in your library and answer questions about it. It can't add, change, or delete anything there.

Which platforms work with PostSnag MCP

Four platforms connect to PostSnag MCP today.

Claude

Add the PostSnag connector from Claude's Settings, under Connectors, and start asking about your captured library right in the chat. See How do I connect PostSnag to Claude?

Important Note: PostSnag MCP also works in Claude Code and Claude Cowork.

ChatGPT

Add PostSnag as a custom connector from ChatGPT's Settings, under Connectors. See How do I connect PostSnag to ChatGPT?

Important Note: PostSnag MCP also works in Codex.

Grok

Add PostSnag from Skills and Connectors in Grok's sidebar. See How do I connect PostSnag to Grok?

Perplexity

Add PostSnag as a custom remote connector in Perplexity's account settings. See How do I connect PostSnag to Perplexity?

What you can ask

Ask in plain language and PostSnag MCP figures out what you're after. Here's what it covers, grouped by what you get:

  • Your profiles: list or search the profiles you've captured, so you can jump straight to any one of them, posts and stats included, without opening the dashboard.

  • Your posts: search and filter your captured posts by profile, folder, group, post type, date, or engagement, so you can find the exact post you're thinking of without opening the dashboard.

  • Your folders: list your folders, which PostSnag MCP calls boards, so you can see what's saved inside each one without opening the dashboard.

  • Your groups: list the groups you're tracking, so you can pull any one with its members and post counts without opening the dashboard.

  • Your bookmarks: list everything you've bookmarked, so you can find the one you saved last week without scrolling.

  • Your whole library: get a summary of everything you've captured and how much of your scan allowance is left, so you always know where you stand.

  • Your best posts: rank your own top-performing posts, so you know what's actually working before you write anything new.

  • Creators and groups you haven't captured yet: find one by name across what the wider PostSnag community has captured, so you can research them before you ever open the extension.

A few real prompts from the dashboard's prompt library:

  • "What 20% of their posts drive 80% of their engagement?"

  • "Across everything I've ever snagged: what's the one pattern I keep missing?"

  • "Give me three collab targets based on creators whose content overlap mine"

  • "What have I already posted that deserves a second run?"

  • "Turn this profile into a reusable writing skill"

  • "Build me a hook bank from the first lines of my most-shared posts, adapted to my offer"

  • "Extract every complaint and struggle posted in this group into a copy bank"

Where PostSnag MCP lives in the dashboard

Open your dashboard and look for MCP in the left sidebar. That page has everything you need in one place: your connector link, a tab for each platform with its own setup steps, and a prompt library you can copy straight into your chat.

  1. Open the MCP page: Click MCP in the sidebar.

  2. Copy your link: Each platform tab shows the connector link in its steps, with a copy button.

  3. Pick your platform: Choose the Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, or Perplexity tab and follow its steps.

  4. Browse what you can do: Scroll down to the prompt library, filter by category or tag, and copy any prompt straight into your chat.

What it can and cannot reach

PostSnag MCP reads your captured library: the profiles, posts, groups, folders, and bookmarks you've saved with the extension.

Ask about a creator or group you haven't captured yet, and it searches by name across what the wider PostSnag community has captured, then reads that instead. This only works when you search for a specific creator or group by name; there's no way to browse everything the community has captured. That pool runs both ways: the public posts you capture are pooled the same way, so other PostSnag users searching by name can read what you've captured too. See Does Discovery share my captured data with other PostSnag users?

It can't browse Facebook itself. It can't start a capture: that still happens in the extension, while you're scrolling. It never changes or deletes anything in your library, and it never holds or asks for your Facebook login.

Is PostSnag MCP included in my plan

PostSnag MCP is included with Pro and Lifetime.

A Free account can still add the connector and follow every setup step. But once it's connected, every question comes back with the same message: "The PostSnag MCP connector is available to Pro and Lifetime members only. Please upgrade your account at https://postsnag.com to connect Claude, ChatGPT, or Perplexity." Upgrade at postsnag.com, then ask again.

Some platforms add their own rules on top of that, and they can change these any time: ChatGPT's custom connectors need a paid ChatGPT plan, and Perplexity's custom remote connectors need Perplexity Pro or Enterprise. Claude and Grok have no PostSnag-specific plan requirement today.

Common questions

Do I need to reconnect PostSnag MCP every time I start a new chat?

No. Once it's connected on a platform, every new chat you start there already has your library in it.

Does PostSnag MCP need my Facebook login?

No. It only reads what's already in your PostSnag library. It never asks for or holds your Facebook login.

Can I connect more than one platform at the same time?

Yes. The same connector link works for every platform, so you can connect Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, and Perplexity all at once if you use more than one.

Does PostSnag MCP work in Claude Code or Claude Cowork?

Yes. It connects the same way it does in Claude, since they use the same connector.

What happens to PostSnag MCP if I'm on the Free plan?

The connector stays added, but every question returns the upgrade message until your account is on Pro or Lifetime.
