How do I uninstall or reinstall PostSnag?

Remove PostSnag from chrome://extensions, then reinstall it any time from the Chrome Web Store. Your dashboard data stays safe.

Uninstall PostSnag by right-clicking its toolbar icon and choosing Remove from Chrome, or by removing it from chrome://extensions. You can reinstall any time from the Chrome Web Store and sign back in to pick up exactly where you left off, since your account and dashboard live on PostSnag's servers, not inside the extension.

Before you uninstall

Send any posts you've captured but haven't sent to your dashboard yet. Scrolling only saves posts locally in the extension's own storage; nothing reaches your dashboard until you click Export To Dashboard. Uninstalling clears that local storage, so anything still sitting only in the extension is gone for good once you remove it. Posts already sent to your dashboard are safe in your account no matter what you do next.

Uninstalling also does not cancel a paid subscription. Your Pro or Lifetime plan is tied to your account, not to the extension, so removing PostSnag from your browser has no effect on billing. See "How do I cancel my PostSnag subscription?" if that's actually what you're trying to do.

How to uninstall PostSnag

From the toolbar:

  1. Right-click the PostSnag icon in your toolbar. If it isn't pinned, open the puzzle-piece Extensions menu first, then right-click PostSnag there.

  2. Choose Remove from Chrome.

  3. Confirm.

From the extensions page:

  1. Open a new tab and go to chrome://extensions.

  2. Find PostSnag.

  3. Click Remove, then confirm.

Either method removes PostSnag completely, along with anything it had stored locally in your browser.

How to reinstall PostSnag

  1. Go to the Chrome Web Store listing: chromewebstore.google.com/detail/postsnag/mgaicfnchelmoancalnebajninjeiphl.

  2. Click Add to Chrome, then confirm the permissions prompt.

  3. Pin it to your toolbar. See "How do I pin PostSnag to my browser toolbar?"

  4. Open a Facebook page, click the icon, and sign in with the same email and password, or Continue with Google, you used before.

What stays safe across a reinstall

Your PostSnag account, your dashboard, and every profile and post you've already sent with Export To Dashboard live on PostSnag's servers, tied to your account, not to the extension on your computer. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't touch any of it, including your plan. Sign back in after reinstalling and your Profiles, Bookmarks, Folders, Groups, and Analytics all look exactly as you left them. If you're on Pro or Lifetime, your plan reflects correctly as soon as you sign back in with the same account.

When reinstalling is the right fix

Beyond simply removing PostSnag you no longer want, uninstalling and reinstalling is also a reasonable troubleshooting step if something seems stuck and a refresh or a forced update hasn't helped. A fresh install replaces every local file PostSnag has, which can clear up issues a normal update wouldn't touch. If you're reinstalling to fix a problem rather than to remove PostSnag for good, export anything you can first and check "How do I update PostSnag to the latest version?" before you go this far.

Common questions

Will uninstalling PostSnag delete my dashboard?
No. Your dashboard and everything already sent to it with Export To Dashboard stay in your account, tied to your sign-in, not to the extension.

Does uninstalling cancel my subscription?
No. Removing the extension has no effect on billing. Pro and Lifetime plans are managed separately from your account; see "How do I cancel my PostSnag subscription?" if you actually want to cancel.

Do I need to create a new account when I reinstall?
No. Sign in with the same email and password, or Continue with Google, that you used before. Creating a new account with a different email starts you over with an empty library instead of your existing one.

What happens to posts I captured but never exported?
They're only saved locally in the extension, so removing PostSnag before clicking Export To Dashboard means they're gone for good. Export first if you want to keep them.

Can I reinstall on a different computer?
Yes. Install PostSnag on any computer and sign in with your existing account; your dashboard looks the same everywhere, since it isn't tied to any one machine.
